Broke my iphone a while back and I had lost a bunch of photos and videos on there that were important to me. Daniel Novak and the Secure Data Recovery team did an excellent job and recovered everything I was looking to get off my old phone, even the stuff I thought wouldn''t be salvageable they managed to extract. Remember when we were young, and dinosaurs stalked the earth, we were taught that computers could die and, thus, we should back up our data (on countless floppy disks). It was a tedious chore and procrastination regularly came calling. Technological improvements made it even easier to ignore. Take a look at other reviews and it becomes clear that a lot of people are relying on luck, including me. Luck is not a plan.As I have a small SDD in my laptop, I keep work and non-work files on two different (spinning disk) external hard drives.The Verbatim, which might be 10 years old, was turning off on its own for a few months. Disconnecting and plugging it back in would turn it back on, no problem. MS would do a scan and find nothing to fix. In the back of my mind, I knew that I should be backing up both drives but every month other frivolities, like food, would empty my wallet so I put off buying a big SSD.Then, one day, it would not open and invited me to reformat the drive. I knew that would wipe out everything, which went from decades of digital pictures to tax returns for myself and some friends. I was delighted to learn that SDR has their own lab only two hours from where I live.He was especially patient when my wife (who has mixed dementia) repeatedly demanded my attention.Once the initial scan was done, Eric perhaps anticipated that I might be shocked by the price. And, if that is what he was thinking, he was not wrong as it was Cdn $2300. Shocking, yes, but worth every penny now that I am back in possession of ALL of my files as some of that data is priceless.As we learn more from our mistakes than we do our successes, backing up data from both of my external hard drives is now a daily habit (another C$350 spent on a 2Tb SSD making that a lot easier than it was 35 years ago when I a PS II landed on my desk).In my work I deal with a lot of Client Services people and most of them have the right personality for the job (which is problem solving 99% of the time). Eric stands out and whether it is his natural personality and ability or good training or a combination of both, he is a great asset to SDR.
